ACH Clifford takes its name from founder, Albert Charles Henry Clifford, who with his wife, Mavis started the business in 1967.
From these humble beginnings as a small construction business, mainly working locally on commercial projects ACH has flourished into the well-respected construction company of choice working with government agencies, award winning architects and institutional clients.
The current owner, Peter Comino, joined the business in 1988, signalling a change of direction, a more professional approach, and a period of growth that sees the company where it is today.
Our first major government contract was the cyclic maintenance of 100 schools. The demonstrated capabilities and success of this led to our first major capital works contract with government at Werrington Public School.
From this, we gained prequalification with NSW Government, and soon branched out regionally, with landmark projects such as new schools at Vincentia High School and Tumbi Umbi High School. In 1998, ACH was included on the coveted NSW Best Practice Contractor list.
While Peter is still involved to provide a guiding hand, today the business is being run by his daughter Marina, and Dean Quine, the Construction Manager who has been with the company for close to 30 years. Collectively, they bring close to 100 years of knowledge and experience to the company, and every project benefits from their very hands-on approach.

ACH personnel demonstrated superior skills & more than adequate experience; they were clearly the ‘A Team’
As a very busy principal I found the senior management, site supervisor and contractors paid close attention to communication and were very receptive to feedback and questions.
On only one other occasion in the last 20 years have I worked with such a professional and considered team. The high quality of attention to detail and willingness to look at options (including a very clever roof design) until a solution was found sets ACH Clifford apart.
The refurbishment and extension that created a new facility has more than met expectations and has considerably improved both the look and amenity of what was a very tired, old building. The new space is truly a 21st century learning space.
The builder takes a high pride in the standard of work, quality is managed to a high standard.
It has been a pleasure working with ACH Clifford, a job “well done”. A Best Practice contractor performing above the required standard.
ACH Clifford have performed well and cooperatively, including good communication with each school.
ACH Clifford has been cooperative and the foreman is sympathetic to the heritage nature of the work. The foreman did an excellent job in sorting out access and multiple hold point inspections issues in these eight occupied terraces without the client needing to become involved which was invaluable to the project as a whole.
ACH CLIFFORD performed to a high standard on all criteria. They worked cooperatively with the client to obtain early occupation. The quality of work was to a very high standard on items that were bespoke & non standard.
ACH Clifford performed well with minimum disruption to the school considering the extent of the scope of the works and the scheduling of the milestones. The site staff, including the subcontractors continually liaised with the school staff.
Both the client and the school principal are satisfied with the end result, especially the fact that the project was completed well within the completion time.
Their workplace skills were evident in the manner in which they approached the changes and also in offering workable solutions.
The level of workmanship of all trades is superior and the brickwork in the building is exceptional, additionally the site Foreman kept a tight reign on OHS&R
ACH Clifford have impressed in their approach and execution of this difficult type of work. I am continuing to receive excellent feedback from the School Principals and the Preschool Staff not only in relation to the work carried out but also in respect of their relationship with site staff. The site staff have been very conscious of the environment that they have been working in and adjusted their work practices to suit.
